Open Garden at Sunnymeade, Anglesea

Gracious clipped native shrubs contrast with the sculptured gum tree Fabulous coastal native garden Dry-stone walls at Sunnymeade Clipped native shrubs contrast with architectural gum tree branches Charming landscaping at Sunnymeade garden

Sunnymeade, an award winning garden in Anglesea, incorporates extensive drystone walls, a sunken garden, fire pit and sculptures. This is not your ‘traditional’ garden space! The first view is of extraordinary sculptured grass mounds and shrub plantings with a canopy of local Stringybark gums. Stone walls soften level changes around the house, and fields of grasses appear as natural clumps and deliberate lines generating a soft wavy feel. There is a dramatic display of shrubs clipped into ball shapes. A pistachio tree shades the front door with a living-screen connecting the buildings with the landscape. A delightful Moonah forest has been planted at the back of the garden. Guest speakers: Saturday 27 at 3.00pm – Peter Shaw from Ocean Road Landscaping will talk on creating coastal gardens. Saturday 28 at 3.00pm – Nick Day from Otway Indigenous Nursery will talk on using indigenous plants in the garden. Refreshments will be available and wine by the glass and take-away from Blakes Estate for sale. Proceeds from the opening will support Anglesea CFA and Anglesea Men’s Shed Also opening: Melba, 26 Melba Parade Point Roadnight, Anglesea
